Jack White cut his journalistic teeth as the founding editor and writer for ongoing Glaswegian community newssheet the Burgh Angel.

As well as pursuing a degree in electronics with a specialism in space technology, Jack now edits the Stag, having assisted in the huge design improvements instigated by the previous editorial team. His priorities for the 2011/12 year are a greater role for analytical and factual writing, the maintenance and improvement of design excellence and the broadening of opportunities for the writing teams.

I like to make things look nice and pretty so thats what I'm doing for The Stag this year! I love fashion, music, art and lifestyle stuff so I'll be writing bits and bobs when I find the time. I have a mild obsession for TV and a major obsession for cherry tomatoes... and really cute animal videos on YouTube. Let me know what you think of The Stag's design this year – I’d love to hear your thoughts! X

As a third and final year English student I’m delighted to be returning to The Stag in my new role. Having written reams of content for the News, Literature and Music sections over the past two years, I’ll be reducing my contributions this semester to focus on what goes on behind the scenes.

I'm studying English Literature with Creative Writing and hope to be a Journalist after I graduate. This is my second year on The Stag, and as this is my final year I hope to make the most of being a student at Surrey!!!

Hi! I’m Nicole, Features Editor this year. I am a second-year student of English Literature with Creative Writing, which makes sense because I like to read and write. Features was always my favourite part of this paper – with each issue, you never know what to expect. I look forward to seeing lots of new writers on the team!

I'm a PhD researcher at the University of Surrey my background is Physics BSc and Nanotechnology MSc. Science and Technology tends to be at the heart of our world economy receiving lots of money from government and business, even during times of austerity. Why? Is it worth it?

Of course! It is science and technology creates entire sectors of the economy, thousands of jobs and pushes the boundaries of human knowledge. So keep up to date with the latest news and reviews in The Stag.

My name is Tiffany Tucker and I’m a 2nd year student studying English Literature. My interests in life consist of literature and fashion, and I would also consider myself an avid film and reality television fanatic! Since arriving at university I have developed a keen passion for cooking and sports and most recently astronomy. I also have an enormous love for animals, in particular cats and monkeys.

Hi, I’m Sophia and writing this I’m feeling that bizarre pressure you experience when you are asked to ‘SAY SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT YOURSELF’ at the start of a new class or society! But anyway, the point is, I’m the new editor of the music section. I am a second year English Literature student from London (well Kent really, but London sounds much less boring) and in my free time I like to play, write and listen to music. Basically, this is me pairing my love for literature with my love for music. I really hope you enjoy the section. X

I’m Alexandra Wilks and I want you to read loads of books because it will make you really happy and super smart. I’m studying English and Creative Writing. Aside from reading, my interests include live music, seafood, anything about gender or sex (to my shame), my BlackBerry, and kitchenware. I’m not that interesting but hopefully my section will be. My name is Hannah Jelliman and I am your new Dance & Theatre Editor for this year. I am a final year Dance and Culture student here at Surrey, with a passion for both dance and writing, as well as a large variety of other arts including theatre, music and musical theatre and have been given the fantastic opportunity to take up this job. I am also active participant in many other areas of university, both academic and recreational, including dance ambassador and Social Sec for the Musical Theatre Society. I am very excited to get to work and have lots of great ideas in mind for the Dance & Theatre section of our fantastic newspaper, hope you enjoy!

I'm looking forward to getting The Stag looking its best this year and hopefully getting as many passionate photographers involved as possible. My name is Megan Barnacle and I am one of the copy editors for this here newspaper. The most interesting thing about me is probably my surname 'Barnacle' and what's even more funny is that I live by the sea, on a road called Mariners Lea and my dad and grandad (both 'Barnacles') were in the navy. I'm basically meant to be a character in Spongebob Squarepants.
I'm in my final year of studying English Literature with Creative Writing and my dream job after university would be to work for a film magazine or within the film industry somewhere. Writing a screenplay which then goes on to win an Oscar would be fantastic but knowing me I'll probably spend most of my life drinking wine and claiming I have writer's block.

I'm Emma and I'm in my second year studying English Literature with Creative Writing. Other than my love for reading and writing, I'm into most types of music and am currently attempting to teach myself to play the guitar. I also enjoy going to the gym and trying to keep fit. I'm really looking forward to being part of the Copy Team for The Stag this year and cannot wait to get stuck in to all the news articles.

My name is Michaela Fulton, a third year English Literature student with a worrying obsession with drinking copious amounts of tea whilst I read. I guess I'll be doing even more of that now as Copy Editor, which I am more than happy about! In my spare time you’ll find me listening to rock/metal, reading various novels, attending gigs, visiting lakes of ‘secret’ locations with inflatable boats that have holes in them or making massive batches of cupcakes for no reason whatsoever.

Hi, I’m Louisa and I’m a third year English Literature student originally from a small town in Suffolk.

I enjoy socialising with friends and my interests include music, fashion, cooking and films. I’m a typical University student!

I am really looking forward to working on The Stag this year as I am interested in working in Journalism after I graduate, so I am going to enjoy writing articles as well as fulfilling my role as Copy Editor throughout the year.

Hi there! I am a computer scientist, currently taking a placement year as a Software Engineer. As well as being The Stag Webmaster, I am also the Webmaster for Do>More, GU2 Radio and Surrey RAG. Also an active member of Surrey Stage Crew, a keen presenter and producer for GU2 Radio and former president of Surrey RAG, I love helping out around the Students Union’ in many ways. You can often catch me DJing around campus too, normally in Roots Bar!

Outside of Uni, I enjoy designing and making websites (if you hadn’t already guessed!) and watching a good comedy at the cinema!
