OPINION & ANALYSIS»Some might find this surprising, but I’d much rather be going to university under the new tuition fee system than the old one. You see, under the current system, when we graduate we’ll start paying back our fees as soon as we earn over £15,000.Read more...

When Mariam told me that I had been elected the new Features Editor, I was surprised, but at the same time so glad to be a part of the new Stag team. I’m a second year student studying English Literature with Creative Writing. On top of my love for writing, l like my sports and music and can play a couple of instruments. I’m originally from Leicester, so going back home is always a trek.
And as for my favourite word: Bubbles.
Helen Finn, Science & Technology Editor (sciencetech@thestagsurrey.co.uk)

Rachel Gildea, Dance & Theatre Editor (dancetheatre@thestagsurrey.co.uk)
Ollie Sim, Film Editor (film@thestagsurrey.co.uk)
I am very privileged to be running the Film section of the paper. Surprisingly enough, I am a Film Studies student doing BA Honours with Creative Writing. Oh, and there is something you should know…I am incredibly opinionated when it comes to films. Whenever I get the opportunity, I go to the cinema and watch anything. From Bay to Bergman, I will go and see it. Of course, I could always look for more opinions when it comes to film, and the joy is listening to other people’s interpretations. Do drop me a review (or two), and if you ask for my favourite films (in no particular order):Viridiana, Don’t Look Now, Seven, The Night of the Hunter, Citizen Kane, La Grand Illusion, M, Destry Rides Again, Winter Light, The Enigma of Kasper Hauser, The King of Comedy, This Is Spinal Tap, Fargo, There Will Be Blood, The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, The General, The Long Day Closes, Vertigo…the list goes on.
Christina Webb, Literature Editor (literature@thestagsurrey.co.uk)
Lorna Salmon, Music Editor (music@thestagsurrey.co.uk)
I’m Lorna, and as my new flatmates will probably tell you I can’t stand silence. I’m into brutal honesty, trust, mental hair, and most ciders. Currently I’m living by the phrase: ‘Love where you are, but fight for where you want to be’. I can already tell writing for ‘The Stag’ is just part of the fight, so bring it on.
