Calls PM a “wanker” Chant advocates burning the Government Vicki Baars, NUS Vice President Union Development has sent a page of chants to student union Presidents calling for Tories and Liberal Democrats to be piled onto a bonfire and burned. Lyrics to the chant read: “Build a bonfire, build a bonfire, put the tories on the top, put the libdems in the middle and burn the f***ng lot!” Ms Baars has since apologised for sending the chants round.

  On Wednesday 13th February, Roots Bar was the place to be for CoppaFeel!'s Valentine's pre-drinks! With 'slippery nipple' shots and the chance to 'pink your drink', Roots Bar staff stepped up to the boobie challenge, and so did the guests! Flirty fun included hula hooping and remote-control car racing, as well as team games and chocolate finger licking (cheeky!). Freedom of press crisis: Turkey

  Over the last few months, we have become able to observe a dangerous pattern forming in the condemning of Turkey’s Government, not only of the press, but of individual citizens, for the crime of their free speech. Politically labelling itself as a ‘democratic’ constitutional republic, we perhaps do not expect the extreme repressions of free speech and freedom of press that have recently been reported, which evoke the question, is Turkey reaching a point of crisis? In what seems like an act of dark irony, six members of the PEN Turkey group have actually been charged with ‘insulting the state’ and were subsequently called in for questioning on the 10 The members of PEN Turkey are sentenced in accordance with Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code, which perhaps, here, requires analysis.Read more...
